Get your students ready for the 21st Century by becoming more spatially aware. Maps are fun! Join us as we use Geographic Information Systems to follow world explorers, investigate zoo animals and track extreme weather to preview the ready-to-use classroom materials to meet the needs of learners from 3rd to 6th grades. Lessons from Think Spatially Using GIS will be highlighted using the free AEJEE software.
This session will introduce several lessons from Mapping Our World Using GIS that invites middle and high school students to investigate GIS through step-by-step lessons that require critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Using ArcView software, these lessons align with national teaching standards for geography, science, and technology in introducing and building skills in geographic inquiry, spatial thinking, and GIS technology. Topics covered included study of landforms, ecosystems, political geography, and human and environment interaction. These are inexpensive lessons that you can use in your class tomorrow!
We would love to talk and share with you who we are and what we do!
Because you stopped by the booth, you have access to our Live Demonstrations, just 20 minutes! We covered Online Mapping Resources, Virtual Globes and GIS for Content Areas. Check it out!
